Giving orphans a future
From 2003 to 2023 we have supported the
Namasté Community Foundation with a children's aid project in Pokhara. Around 80 orphans and street children have been given a home.
From 1996 to 2006, there was a civil war in Nepal between the Maoists and the Hindu monarchy. Many children lost their parents as a result and had to live on the streets. To counteract this, we supported the local organisation Namasté Community Foundation (formerly Namasté Children House) with donations. The children's aid project has provided a home for 80 children aged 1 to 14 and financed their school education. In the meantime, all the children involved have grown up, moved out and are standing on their own two feet: some are studying, working in Pokhara or abroad.
Closely linked to this project in 2020 is the establishment of a women's centre in nearby Ghachok, which functions as an educational facility for girls.
